Privacy policy
This policy explains how Cheatr handles personal data through its People and WhatsApp communication product. The product helps Cheatr understand its community, record communication preferences and send relevant WhatsApp messages.
Information we handle
- Contact and identity details, such as name, phone number, email and city.
- Community context, including event, form or import source, tags, notes and interaction history.
- Consent and suppression records, including when and how a communication preference was recorded or withdrawn.
- WhatsApp communication data, including approved template selections, message identifiers, delivery states and replies.
- Operator account, security, audit and technical records needed to protect and run the product.
Where information comes from
Information may be provided directly by you, collected through Cheatr forms or events, imported from Cheatr’s existing records, or received through your interactions with Cheatr on WhatsApp. We do not buy personal data or build advertising profiles.
Why we use it
- Manage Cheatr’s community relationships and event history.
- Send communications that match recorded consent and preferences.
- Respond to questions and maintain conversation history.
- Prevent messages after an opt-out, avoid duplicate sends and maintain accurate records.
- Secure the service, investigate failures and meet legal or compliance obligations.
We process personal data only for lawful purposes and, where consent is relied upon, you may withdraw it. Unknown consent is not treated as permission for marketing.
Service providers and transfers
We use carefully selected providers to operate the product, including Meta and WhatsApp for messaging, Supabase for database services, and Cloudflare/OpenAI Sites for hosting. They process data under their own contractual and security obligations. Data may be processed outside India where these providers operate; we apply contractual and technical safeguards appropriate to the service.
Retention
We keep personal data only while it is needed for the purposes above or a legal, security or audit requirement. A limited phone-number suppression record may be retained after deletion so we can continue honouring an opt-out and avoid contacting you again.
Security
Cheatr limits product access, keeps provider credentials on the server, verifies webhook signatures, records important actions and separates workspace data. No system can guarantee absolute security; suspected incidents are investigated and handled under applicable obligations.
Your choices and rights
You may ask to access, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw consent, or raise a grievance. We may need to verify your identity before acting. See our data-deletion instructions or email rachitank@gmail.com.
Children
This product is not directed to children, and Cheatr does not knowingly use children’s personal data for WhatsApp marketing. Contact us if you believe such information has been included.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
